[Physically, there's no mark left of his encounter with Joel. It's far from the first time Fitz has been left with no sign that he was recently tortured. He prefers it to bearing the injuries, but it doesn't help with the detachment that tends to hit after.]
"After spending far too long tied to a chair, I definitely pick bed." He wasn't tied to a chair that long relatively, but 'at all' when it comes to being tied to a chair and tortured is too long. He doesn't believe in being generous about it.
It's not that Fitz doesn't know that she's upset that it happened to him, but it's still nice to have a sign. He's upset, but there's a resigned bitterness to it that he can't shake. It's easy for him to stop caring - stop really caring - quickly, even though he doesn't necessarily want to.
And, at the same time, he's glad to just have her here offering the comfort of tea and bed.
She kisses his cheek before she heads to the kitchen for their tea. "I
